District Youth Lead Applications Now Open

We are now inviting applications to become a District Youth Lead. There are two vacancies available: one representing the Perth City area and one representing the Strathearn area of Perth and Kinross District Scouts.

This is an exciting opportunity for two young people to represent youth voice, support youth involvement and help shape the future of Scouting across the district. The Youth Lead works alongside adult volunteers and other young people to ensure that decisions reflect the views, ideas and experiences of our youth members.

Young people in Perth and Kinross District, District Lead Volunteers, District Teams (including the 14-24 team and Programme team), East Scotland Region Youth Lead, District Chair, District Trustee Board members and other local District Youth Leads from across East Scotland

Age: 18-24 at the start of the role

Eligibility: You must be eligible to become a Charity Trustee

A bit about the role 

As Youth Lead for Perth and Kinross, you will be an essential part of the District Leadership Team, working alongside the District Lead Volunteers, the other District Youth Leads and the Chair of the District Trustee Board. Your mission? To make sure young people aged 4–25 are truly at the heart of every decision that shapes their Scouting experience in the district. From planning to reviewing programmes, you will empower young people to speak up, share their ideas and help shape the Scouting adventures they want.

What You Will Do:

Champion Youth-Led Scouting: Work with the District Lead Volunteers, District Chair and District Team to make sure Scouting across Perth and Kinross is shaped by young people, in collaboration with adults.

Build a District Youth Team: In collaboration with the other Youth Leads in the district you will bring together a team of young people from across Perth and Kinross to help lead the way.

Join the District Trustee Board: As an ex-officio Trustee, you will ensure that young people have a voice in key decisions.

Support Youth-Led Scouting in Programmes: Work to include young people in local decision-making at all levels.

Widen Your Impact: Stay connected with the broader District work, passing on any National and Regional updates that can help the district.

Drive Real Change: Make sure youth-led Scouting has a strong and visible impact across Perth and Kinross District.

Note: Some of these responsibilities will be shared with others, including the other District Youth Leads and the District Youth Team.
