Going abroad
Go and discover World Scouting!
Going abroad with Scouting can take many forms; from UK organised events to totally DIY trips, there is an event and destination to suit everyone, either as a group or on your own.
Organised events news
Many international camps and activities take place every year across the globe. You can find the list in the International Opportunities newsletter produced by The Scout Association.
The World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is responsible for three major events where members of Berkshire Scouts can join as part of the UK Contingent:
World Scout Jamboree (next in 2023)
World Scout Moot (next in 2025)
Roverway (next in 2024)
Blair Atholl 2024
The 39th Scottish International Patrol Jamborette will take place in Blair Atholl from Monday 15th July 2024 until Friday 26th July 2024.
500 Scottish Explorer Scouts will camp alongside Scouts from around the world, working as a dual patrol of 12, in one of six sub camps. There is an exciting programme of activities and the opportunity to form lasting international friendships.
Blair Atholl is open to Scouts and Explorers who are 14 – 17 on the first day of the camp. Perth and Kinross has been allocated 4 patrols for Blair Atholl 2024. Information about the selection process for the patrols will be announced shortly.

International opportunities can range from an activity at a section Meeting through to travelling overseas. This page is a summary of some of those opportunities and also links to resources and other international pages on this website.
International badges and awards
International badges and awards can be gained by providing activities through the section programme. There are many badges and awards with an international theme for all sections.
Global programme ideas
Learning about the world around us is an integral part of Scouting. We call this collection of topics the global programme. It’s woven throughout the 4–25 programme to support young people to become global citizens.
Online Scout Manager (OSM)
OSM is an amazing treasure trove of resources for all sections. Just input a theme, country name, global aspect or just international, and see what is available.
JOTA–JOTI
JOTA–JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Air – Jamboree-on-the-Internet) allows Scouts from all over the world to communicate over the air (amateur radio) and the internet by using any technology locally available.
Jamboree on the trail (JOTT)
JOTT is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.
Scouts against Malaria
