Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Our volunteering opportunities are as varied as you!
Make a difference, volunteer today
You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is…
This could be your best decision yet.
Scouting relies on strong leadership. So if you can motivate others, keep a cool head and balance a variety of views then you would be an ideal Chair for Perth & Kinross District. With experience of steering meetings to produce excellent decisions, you’ll be equally willing to speak your mind and encouraging others to express their views.
You will use your strong communication skills to help a team of committed adult volunteers who make up a Trustee Board arrive at a good decision that will benefit young people. Able to work as part of a team, you will also contribute the direction and development of the district.
No previous experience of Scouting is necessary. What’s more important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our mission and values. We will provide all appropriate learning and ongoing support.

Help keep us in line – join us as District Secretary
Are you a natural organiser? Do you know what’s happening, not just next week, but next month and year too? Is your electronic diary always perfectly in synch? If this sounds like you, then we’d love you to consider supporting us as District Secretary. A great communicator, team player and problem solver, you’ll be as good a listener as you are at taking accurate minutes and reminding us of our rules.
We’re only able to help young people step up, play their part and gain great skills when our groups are well managed and run. A District Secretary is absolutely essential to this, which is why, as one of our trustees, you will be responsible, supportive and have our best interest at heart at all times. In return you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping us prepare so many more young people for the future.

Every Scout District requires trustees, which form the Trustee Board.
The trustees oversees the administration of the District. As well as a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, each Trustee Board welcomes people with specific skills. Most District Trustee Boards meet three or four times a year, but effective members will volunteer for tasks in between the meetings, thus ensuring the smooth running of the District and maximising its potential for a hugely positive impact on its young members.
